ERGİN İNAN

(1943-)

Born in Malatya in 1943, Inan had graduated from the Painting Faculty of the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts (Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University) in 1968. He studied and worked in Germany with Prof.Vedova in Salzburg and Prof. Zimmerman in Munich. He was a visiting professor at the Berlin Arts School in 1985-1986. The art of Ergin Inan is based on an exploration, from his own view point, of the metaphysical meaning between being and nothingness. One can easily feel a synthesis of Eastern and Western cultures in his paintings. His works of the 70’s reflect on symbolic relationships between insects and human figures. Inan uses different materials and techniques: canvas, wood, durallite, hand crafted paper, to which he applies oil paint, watercolors, colored ink, collage and others. His artworks are in many important Turkish and European collections and are exhibited in museums in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, UK and Japan. According to Forbes Turkey, Inan held a stable place in 2015-2016 among first three most bankable living Turkish artists both in terms of total sales and premium per painting. Highly advised as an investment into contemporary art which is also beautiful, and not scary or aggressive!
