He is rewarded with a “State Artist” status by the Turkish state, and his major retrospective covering his 50 years of creating art was recently held at Tophane Amire. The number of solo exhibitions by Erbil is over 300, which is the highest achived among Turkish contemporary artists. In 2015, total volume of Devrim Erbil’s sales at auctions was 85% up from the previous year and brought in 1,300,000 Turkish Lira. Erbil has established his namesake Cultural, Educational & Art Foundation and is working on opening his own museum.
